In 1933 Time Magazine and the New York Times carried obituaries of Li Ching-Yun, who had
died at the improbable age of 256. Li Ching-Yun was reported to have buried 23 wives and
fostered 180 descendants before his untimely death. The longest authenticated lifespan of
a human being is Jeanne Calment's 122 years and 164 days.
